New home in Peterborough :

The benefits of buying a new home

We understand you have to take many factors into account when deciding whether to move or stay put and improve what you already have.  We also understand that the quality of your home can directly affect your quality of life.  It’s so important to get it right, but with so many decisions to make, where do you start?

Experts estimate that by buying a new home you can save more than £20,000 in improvements to a typical second-hand home to bring it up to a similar standard as a new home.  This includes the cost of replacing the heating system, electrical wiring, windows and guttering, redecorating, improving roof insulation and installing a new bathroom suite.  Add to this the cost of moving out temporarily if you can’t function normally whilst the work is being done.

There are of course huge benefits to owning a new home:

  • New homes can be around 4 times more energy efficient than their Victorian counterparts, thanks to better heating systems and renewable technologies;
  • New homes generate at least 60% fewer CO2 emissions than older style homes, helping to minimise the Greenhouse effect;
  • The latest building regulations specify excellent Thermal insulation for the walls and loft and double glazed windows and doors keep much more heat in.  According to a survey by British Gas, £1 in every £3 spend on heating older homes is wasted through lack of effective insulation;
  • Advances in sound insulation methods mean that all new properties are built to standards well above;
  • Your water bills are likely to be lower because of water efficient fittings in new homes, and better drainage and sewer systems reduce the risk of flooding;
  • Taking fire safety precautions to keep your family safe is paramount.  Fire resistant and retardant materials are used in construction and all new homes have circuit breakers as well as fire and smoke alarms fitted as standard;
  • Security features such as modern locks, alarms and security lights contribute to a secure and safe environment for you and your family and mean lower house and contents insurance premiums;
  • All new homes have a warranty (such as the NHBC 10 Year Buildmark warranty) for complete peae of mind.  For full details of what this means to you click on the following link: http://www.nhbc.co.uk/Homeowners
  • No DIY, renovations or repairs to do;
  • When you buy a new home you can move in as soon as it is finished;
  • There are no upward chains to consider so the whole process can be much less stressful and quicker.

A brand new home also means a blank canvas on which to stamp your own personality - a new start in a new community.  They are built to utilise every inch of space, with fully fitted kitchens, integrated appliances and built in wardrobes.
